Karen Gaag

Artist Bio:

I’m a Yankee from Ohio farm country transplanted to the low country due to the transfer of my husband in 2000. This brought a great change in my life. First it was exploring watercolor, a gentleman in our community was teaching a class and so it was to begin.  With the help of Gene Bekeart, I explored colors and mixing colors – what a wonderful thing that was.  As time went on, oils and pastels became my  favorites as well as painting the beautiful marshes. Since this earlier time I have taken many classes and workshops and have learned so much, but there is still so much to learn and really not enough time. Art and painting have become an important part of my life and I can’t imagine my life without it.  I enjoy the Charleston art community and I am thankful to so many for their encouragement and sharing their friendship. I am an active member of the Charleston Artist Guild and the Summerville Artist Guild.
