Inspired by Mary Whyte’s The Artist’s Life, the CAG Sketch Club grew out of a recent Book Club discussion about the importance of sketching as a regular practice. Her ideas - and sketchbook exercises included in the book - reminded us how powerful drawing from observation can be.
The Sketch Club will be a relaxed, welcoming gathering for artists of all levels, focused on indoor still-life sketching. It’s not a class or critique, just time to slow down, look closely, and draw together.
Join us for our first meeting on Monday, February 9, from 10:00 am–noon at Charleston County Library, downtown branch, 68 Calhoun. Bring your sketchbook and favorite drawing tools. We’ll provide the still life - and the inspiration.
