This collection has quietly evolved in Kroos’ studio, reflecting her long-standing fascination with the expressive power of the sky. Drawing inspiration from childhood memories, Kroos recalls an early connection to both art and spirituality, often finding herself captivated by dramatic sunsets and the ever-changing atmosphere above. That sense of wonder continues to inform her work today. Kroos approaches the sky as a living, expressive presence—constantly shifting, inviting viewers to pause, reflect, and look upward. She describes her work as an attempt to capture fleeting moments when light, color, and atmosphere align in ways that feel both powerful and deeply personal. Through her paintings, she encourages a sense of gratitude and mindfulness, offering viewers a moment of stillness and quiet reflection. Guests are invited to attend the opening reception for Big Skies during the Charleston Art Walk on Friday, August 7, from 5–8 p.m. at the Charleston Artist Guild Gallery at 160 E. Bay Street in downtown Charleston. The exhibition will remain until August 31. Visitors can experience the full collection during regular gallery hours and during the First Friday Art Walk.
