Each year, the Charleston Artist Guild hosts an art exhibition and competition for low country high school seniors who are enrolled in art programs. All lowcountry schools in the tri-county area are invited to participate.The works are judged, and awards presented along with several college scholarships. Scholarship money comes from The New Jersey Community Foundation, the Faye Sullivan Art Scholarship and from the generous donations of CAG members. Each scholarship winner will also receive a free one-year membership to the Guild, with all the benefits associated. Each Fall, the CAG hosts the CAG Signature Show for visual artwork on the painting and photography spectrum. The Show is open for entry to all South Carolina residents and is supported through a grant from the South Carolina Arts Commission. As part of the competition, jurors review the entries. Accepted works are showcased in an in-person art show, as well as an online gallery to provide maximum exposure to the works of art. Judges then review the works and the following prizes are generally awarded: Painting: 1st Place $500, 2nd Place $300, and 3rd Place $175. Photography: 1st Place $300, 2nd Place $175, and 3rd Place $125, with six Honorable Mentions that are each awarded $50.
